Good Friday Destruction

On Friday, 4/10 (Good Friday), several tornadoes came through the city of Murfreesboro leave a devestating path of destruction.

Around 1:30 pm, one of the tornadoes touched down as I stood and watched it from the clubhouse of my apartment complex. It was an an amazing sight to watch. I watched as the tornado formed. It started at the far left and spiraled and swirled until it touched down on the ground in front of the elementary school right next to my apartment. The tornado was said to have been 1/2 mile wide and traveled most of the city in a diagonal path.

It is such a site to see how one side of a road is completely destroyed and right across the street the houses are untouched.

In its path more than 450 house were destroyed(100) or damaged(350) and at least 30 people were injured. Two lives were tragically taken as well. A mother and her 9-week old daughter.

The above pictures are of two neighborhoods that are no more than a two minute drive from my apartment. (No damage was done to my apartment complex but the houses directly next to us were hit.)

It is amazing what human nature can do in a matter of seconds.

(And it's true what people say, the winds/tornado do sound like a train passing by.)

Cheekwood and Easter Shoots

So there is only two weeks left of this semester. I can't believe it. It went so quickly and was so much fun.

On Thursday, in Nature class we went to Cheekwood, which a botanical garden, and shot some great pictures. (Just a few of the many posted above.)

On Sunday, I went and spent the day with my family at my cousin's house for Easter. I had a little photo shoot there with two of the cutest little boys. (The other one was napping.)

On Friday, 4/10, a tornado hit Murfreesboro and left quite a bit of destruction in its path. Many people were injured, two were killed (a mother and her 3 month old), and many, many homes were lost. I went and took pictures of the what was left in the path of destruction. I will have those posted within the next day.
